It all begins with an idea.
Born from teaching artists Judith Tannenbaum, Julia Taylor, Emily Harris, Allie Horevitz, Rachael Zafer (Hudak), Jaime Nelson, and Suzanne Gothard, the Prison Arts Coalition (PAC) website emerged in 2008 as an online hub for those working to blend art with justice..
For over a decade, this volunteer-driven powerhouse fueled change by offering support, information, and personalized guidance to those championing arts programs for the incarcerated and formerly incarcerated. With a treasure trove of resources, including a groundbreaking directory of arts initiatives across prisons, jails, and reentry programs, PAC laid the foundation for the Justice Arts Coalition. Today, we continue this revolutionary work, fostering collaboration among artists, organizations, and advocates dedicated to reimagining the justice system through art.
