I’m self taught. I say this all the time. I didn’t know how to draw when I got locked up. But I realized I needed to develop some patience…or I was going to end up being a patient. So I started drawing and playing the guitar. Drawing provided a means to also put some funds in my life with cards and envelopes and eventually portraits. I’d like to state that portraits are the bread and butter, or the ramen noodles and little debbies of making money for oneself. I do portraits in pencil and work from photos. I take the photo and put it on the photocopier and enlarge it to the optimal size, then work from the copy.
