Artist Statement:
Does life imitate art, or does art imitate life? As a formerly incarcerated person who spent 20 years in the correctional institution, I think art is an impression of life. My artistic inspiration comes from personal experiences, often unpleasant ones. Art has become a channel for me to weather the most difficult times of my life and it also gave me sense of purpose and meaning. My arts are an expression of my emotion, perception, and spirit — that is where I feel most in touch with life.
In many ways, it helps me tell my story.
