Have you ever felt emotion when seeing a picture, hearing a song, watching dancers’ movements, watching a film, reading a poem, book or even the news? Has it called you to action? Maybe you were called to activism. Maybe to create a piece of art or to write a story.
For this show, we ask artists to submit entries evoked by something that elicited an emotion. Along with the entry, please share who, what, where or why you were driven to create this piece; in other words, what you were inspired by. Visual art, music, written/spoken word, dance art forms encouraged. Performance art may require taped submissions.
The show is open to members and non members of Arts Alliance of Stratford. Space is limited so the entries will be adjudicated by our committee. There will be a “People’s Choice” award which will give the winning artist free entry into a future show.

This session invites papers that examine the production, teaching, study, and performance of literature within historical and contemporary carceral institutions. We plan to host four panels this year. In addition to two open panels, we are especially interested in (1) writing centers inside prisons and (2) second-language instruction inside prisons. We also welcome studies of fictional accounts of imprisonment and encourage proposals that engage the convention theme “Cultures of Collectivity.” Please send abstracts to Will Andrews at waandrews@northpark.edu by April 15th, 2021.
