Conveying the inequitable aspects of the criminal justice system; its racial bias towards blacks and other minorities as opposed to their white counterparts which contributes to the plight of mass incarceration, in this illustration using birds. Subject to the same cruel methods of apprehension, the doves aren’t the objective. When caught in conjunction with the pigeons, they are often released and the pigeons detained. History has proven America to be the “slave master” of blacks and other minorities by ruthless means, continuing its claim of superiority through judicial systemic indifference. In comparison the pigeons remain ghettoized while the doves are considered elite and are more free to enjoy life and liberty. I chose the form of juxtaposition and the medium graphite to illustrate a profound truth of “one injustice on top of another” and to explicitly express the phrase, “its as clear as BLACK & WHITE”
